A unique robot rat for rescue work has been created in China

Engineers of the Beijing Institute have developed a robot rat, which received the designation SQuro. In its shape, it really resembles a rat. Due to the fact that he has a flexible spine, the robot was able to squeeze into very narrow holes and turn in them.

By its mass, the new robot is significantly smaller than similar samples. The weight does not exceed 210 grams. Despite this, the robot rat is able to carry miniature cameras and sensors on itself. They are needed in order to search for missing people after earthquakes in collapsed buildings.

The robot is controlled by a computer, it switches the robot’s movement modes based on the obstacles it passes. Scientists are confident that their development will be in demand by rescue services who are looking for people in the rubble after earthquakes and mine collapses.

In addition, it can also be used to check objects in places where a person cannot pass. After all the tests are completed, it is planned to transfer the first samples of robot rats to the rescue services of Beijing, and then it will be sent to other provinces of China.
