Focused ultrasound will be used to treat vision problems

A group of scientists from the University of Viterbi (USA) is developing unique methods to restore vision in humans. At the moment, an interesting technology has been developed, based on focused ultrasound. Its difference from standard operations is that the technique is cheaper and not as traumatic as operations.

Surgical intervention will not be required. A special device will generate ultrasonic waves in order to stimulate the retina of the eye.

To test the new technology, scientists initially conducted tests on blind rats. The tests were successful. Ultrasonic stimulation allowed the rat to perceive objects. At the moment, more tests are being conducted on mice, and upon their completion, testing is already planned in a control group of blind people.

If the tests are successful, then the technology will be put into mass production. Scientists suggest that their technology, which uses focused ultrasound, will help the blind and visually impaired.

Given the fact that the number of Americans experiencing vision problems is growing every year, the technology will be in great demand.
