According to the Jamaican authorities, the first 100,000 residents of the country who install cryptocurrency wallets will be paid a reward in 16 digital Jamaican dollars. According to the Government, such a measure should encourage companies and individuals to use the Jamaican digital dollar.
The banking infrastructure in the country is not very developed, and according to preliminary estimates, at least 16 percent of the population practically do not use the services of banks. Therefore, the government is looking for opportunities to improve the banking system. The state stablecoin should help in this. The Jamaican dollar was tested for eight months.
It will be fully launched in April, and in order to attract increased attention to it, the authorities decided to organize such an action. The Central Bank of Jamaica indicates that every resident who has a bank account will receive another virtual wallet for digital currency. The wallet was named Jam-Dex. The first 100,000 users are guaranteed a reward if they install a cryptocurrency wallet for a Jamaican dollar transaction.
